This comprehensive course is designed to instruct course participants in the skills and knowledge needed to become a lifeguard. Course candidates will learn how to recognize, prevent, and respond quickly to aquatic emergencies. The course also instructs participants in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED and First Aid. Participants will receive certifications in the above-mentioned materials upon completion of attending all class sessions, passing all written exams, water skills and tests. Lifeguard and First Aid certifications are valid for two years. CPR-PR with AED is valid for two years. Will need to renew certifications every two years.NEW Prerequisites:• Participant must be 15 years of age or older• Ability to pass pretest. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath controland rhythmic breathing.• Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs• Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds: starting in the water, swim 20yards, surface dive, feet first or head first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-poundobject, return to surface and swim 20 yards on back with both hands holding object,exit the water without using a ladder or steps.• Certifications received upon completion of course objectives and passing score of 80percent correct on course final written exam.Park on the west side (back of school), enter Door 7.
